Don't forget, this Saturday, May 2nd, 2009 is World Wet Plate Day!  Shoot some plates, then:

Upload: your collodion work from May 2nd here:
http://www.wetplateday.org/
Pick your best plate or two, or if you are just starting, upload what you were able to do.

Publish:  A print on demand book will be published of 1 or 2 plates you choose to send to Quinn via the link on the same site.

Get out there and show the world the beauty and fun of this antique process!

Oh wow. Where have I been? I thought there were two separate events and the worldwide wet plate day was June 21. Thanks for the post.

Thats too bad, but under cover or an indoor still life still should work.  Good luck Eddie.  I checked my chems last night and other than a little fog everything is fine.

Raining here too, dammit. I'm still waiting for my model to show up, we'll have to work under fluorescents.

For what it's worth, I love the rainy weather.  After wrapping my film holder in a wet towel, I have been able to shoot on the road. Plenty of UV for me.  I just did a plate from a local cemetery.  20 minutes from coating to developing without a hint of dry out.  I wonder how long I can push this?

Raining here too...but my model and I are due to shoot in 1 hour. It could prove to be quite interesting since it's a nude in the rain. Hopefully she'll have a good sense of humor.

rain rain.  no model.  what's a guy to do?  self-portrait in the rain!

5x7 alumitype.  14.5" Verito, f4.  packard shutter, 30-seconds.

happy wet plate day!!!

[with the benefit of hindsight, it appears better to keep the shot on the designated website]

Rain this morning. Cleared at noon, with sun an hour later. Kousa is the bomb (even better mammoth!) and the Beech lost its virginity for this event. Thanks Q and the gang- can't wait to see the rest.

I am stoked! I got a couple of good really shots, including a great stereoview. I just finished uploading them to the gallery so they should appear soon.
